In a real heat waves you can perhaps visit the caves of Frasassi or go hiking or barbecuing in the mountains.
On warm summer evenings youll enjoy the view of millions of stars and cool wines at the terrace.
Autumn is usually mild, with still a lof of nice weather. The woods at the end of October colour, golden yellow, orange and brown. However, most trees lose their leaves only in December. While the summer can sometimes be very hot in the villages, autumn is the perfect time to thoroughly explore the region. The local restaurants offer venison with truffle mushrooms then
In November and December, the Sirocco can make that real blankets of clouds wrap the villages in a dense fog (Nebbia): its as if the houses float like islands in a sea of clouds, the fairytale landscape of the Marche is still more mysterious than usual !
In winter there is a cosy Christmas atmosphere in the cities. You can go shopping in the small streets, shopping malls or outlets. And when the sun shines you can hang out on one of the long sandy beaches nearby! At night you can enjoy a delicious meal in one of the trattorias and pizzerias nearby. From mid-October snow may fall on the highest peaks of the Monti Sibillini.
In winter, the winter sun is still standing fairly high in the sky and you can feel the heat soon, even through the icy air. So even then you can go to a local market, and enjoy a drink or snack in the sun.
And if it is really cold and freezing, you can go for a lovely walk in the woods or you can go skiing in the mountains.
In the spring months of April and May it can already be comfortably warm (20-25 degrees) : outdoor dining, sightseeing and hiking (sometimes even sunbathing and swimming) are already an option. In Sirolo, a day at the beach and a walk in the nature of the Monte Conero is pleasantly refreshing (in the busy summer season its sometimes queuing for a parking place or to find a quiet spot on the beach). In June, the temperatures can reach 30 degrees, but it is still very quiet on the beach!
You see, The Marches have a lot to offer every season! It is no coincidence that is is called the best kept secret of Italy.
